FAQ

Got questions? We have answers.

How quickly can a right to work check be completed?
The verification can be completed instantly at the point of onboarding. Our digital-first process has pushed candidate verification success rates above 95%, which means the vast majority of candidates never need a face-to-face check.
How does the verification process work?
Candidates start on any device, with no app download needed. From there the process adapts to their document type. UK and Irish passport holders go through a digital identity check. Non-UK and Irish nationals verify remotely using a share code or eVisa through the Home Office online checking service. Where digital verification is not possible, such as expired passports or paper visas, candidates upload their documents and our UK-based team reviews them manually.
What does the report include?
You receive a detailed PDF immediately after every check, including the original document image, verification status, any right to work restrictions, and automated expiry reminders. Reports can be retained as evidence of compliance for the duration of employment and up to two years after it ends.
Can I run a criminal record check at the same time?
Yes. Many clients combine right to work with a Basic DBS check as part of a single onboarding flow. Candidates go through one process, and you get both results.
What happens if a check returns an adverse result?
Our platform flags adverse results clearly within the case record and routes them through a structured exception process for review. Your team can capture candidate explanations or supporting evidence directly in the platform, and a full audit trail is maintained throughout. Our compliance team can also support with guidance on next steps where needed.
Do you offer other background checks too?
Yes. Right to work is one part of Giant's full screening range, which also covers identity, criminal record and DBS, employment and qualifications, financial, directorship, and sanctions, adverse media and PEP screening. Most clients combine several into one onboarding flow, run across 220 countries and territories with the right checks applied automatically based on where a candidate has lived and worked.
How is our data kept secure?
We take a multi-layered approach to security with no single point of failure. We are certified to ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, protected by Cyber Essentials Plus and accredited by the PBSA. All data is hosted in the United Kingdom and processed in line with UK GDPR, with 100% MFA enforced, granular role-based access controls, full time-stamped audit trails, independent annual penetration testing and a 24/7 security operations centre.
